North and west of town, along Cedarcrest Road and out toward GA-61, there are still multi-acre tracts of mixed pine and hardwood, old pasture that has gone back to scrub, and family land that has not been worked in a generation. The most common Dallas job is not a building site - it is land that used to be open and is not any more. Pasture left ungrazed for five or ten years does not stay pasture. It goes to broomsedge, then blackberry and privet, then sweetgum and pine saplings, and at that point a bush hog will not touch it and you need mulching equipment.
Reclaiming that ground is usually cheaper than people assume, because most of what is standing is small-diameter growth that mulches rather than requiring felling and hauling. The cost climbs when there are scattered mature trees left from the original tree line, or when the whole area has to finish clean rather than mulched.
We are often asked to leave selected trees standing - a shade tree over a future home site, a screening row along a road, or hardwoods along a creek. That is worth deciding before the machines start, because it is easy to keep a tree and impossible to put one back.
Paulding has been one of the fastest-growing counties west of Atlanta, and a lot of our Dallas work is site preparation ahead of construction. That is a different specification from reclaiming pasture: it means full removal rather than mulching, stumps and root plates extracted instead of ground, buried debris and old fill pulled out, and the site left in a condition a contractor can actually stake.

It depends on whether the parcel is inside the City of Dallas or in unincorporated Paulding County, and on the scale of land disturbance involved - larger areas are treated differently from a small lot. Confirm for your parcel before work starts; we will point you at the right office when we assess the site.
